SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah says author Mitch Albom will deliver school's May commencement address.
Albom is best known for "Tuesdays with Morrie," a memoir that sold some 11 million copies worldwide. He also wrote "The Five People You Meet in Heaven."
In a news release, University President Michael K. Young says Albom was chosen for the May 6 address because his memoir highlights the relationship between professor and student.
A Philadelphia native, Albom earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. He is a Detroit Free Press columnist and regular contributor to ESPN.
In 1989, Albom founded The Dream Fund to help disadvantaged kids get involved in the arts. He also founded Detroit-area charities A Time to Help and Super All Year.
