OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis chuckles while talking about the time two years ago when an opponent called him an "old man."
The 35-year-old Lewis recalls telling the guy how lucky he would be to have a career that lasted so long.
Now in his 15th season, Lewis leads the Ravens in tackles — just as he has done in 12 of his previous 14 seasons.
He says he's not even close to thinking about retirement and won't even consider being a platoon player.
Lewis may have lost a step since his rookie year in 1996, but he's smarter and seemingly just as effective. Last week he sealed Baltimore's 37-13 win over Carolina by returning an interception for a touchdown.
This week, Lewis is focused on helping the Ravens improve to 8-3 with a win over a young Tampa Bay squad.
