RIVERDALE — America First Credit Union has launched its sixth annual food drive to collect non-perishable items for the Utah Food Bank.
The effort was started Sept. 13 and will run through Oct. 23.
Anyone who wants to donate can drop off non-perishable items at any AFCU branch in Utah and Nevada.
"As we approach the holiday season, it's important to remember that organizations in our community are in need of extra support," said John Lund, executive vice president of America First. "The items collected will help us establish a stock for the Utah Food Bank to be used by individuals who most need our support at this critical time of year."
Lund said the drive has enjoyed "an incredible amount of support" from the public over the past five years.
Last year, AFCU gave 14,850 pounds of food to the Utah Food Bank.
Jessica Pugh, public relations representative for the food bank, said these donations are very welcome.
"Right now, one in seven Utah children is at risk of hunger. This tremendous support provided by America First Credit Union helps ensure these children are provided with food to nourish their bodies and minds."
