Utah Utes women's basketball: Utes overpower Falcons

UTAH 73, AIR FORCE 48: At Salt Lake City, the Utes opened the second half on a 26-5 run en route to an easy victory.

Kalee Whipple led Utah with 17 points. Janita Badon had 11 points with nine assists while Taryn Wicijowski also scored 11 points. Halie Sawyer had a team-high eight rebounds.

Air Force (3-23, 0-13 MWC) shot just 26 percent from the floor in the second half after shooting 47 percent in the first half.

"We asserted ourselves well in the second half," said Utah coach Elaine Elliott.

Utah (17-9, 8-5 MWC) held a 37-30 lead at halftime behind 64 percent shooting. The Utes shot 58 percent from the floor.

Off the bench, Sasha McKinnon came in to go 3-for-4 from distance and led the reserves with nine points.

The Utes outrebounded the Falcons 37-23.

Utah plays at Wyoming and at BYU before coming home against Colorado State on March 6.
