A July 29 trial is still scheduled for a former bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.
However, prosecutor Paul Parker said Monday some kind of resolution could be in the works involving Spencer Dixon, the man accused of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. Parker said Dixon's attorney, Brad Rich, planned to discuss the matter with Dixon today.
If a plea bargain is not reached, then a jury trial, expected to run two to four days, will be held before 3rd District Judge Sheila McCleve. If convicted, Dixon faces a possible sentence of five years to life in prison.
