HELEN ZEES PAPANIKOLAS, prolific Utah historian and novelist about Greeks in Utah, is the recipient of a 2003 American Association for State and Local History Award of Merit for lifetime contributions to Utah and ethnic history. This is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of local, state and regional history.
She will be honored during the 2003 AASLH Annual Meeting in Providence, R.I., Sept. 19. From its headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., AASLH works to advance knowledge, understanding and appreciation of local history in America.
