HIGHLAND Mountainland Applied Technology Center officials want to set up shop in Highland on 38 acres south of Lone Peak High School.
Chad Erickson, spokesman for the technology center, said the vocational school already has some 500 students who come from the north Utah County cities of Highland, Alpine and Cedar Hills.
Erickson said having a campus in the Highland area and adjacent to the high school would make sense. The center's home base is now on the Utah Valley State College campus in Orem.
The Highland City Council will have an opportunity to weigh in on the idea before firm plans are made, Erickson said.
City Administrator Barry Edwards said the city's initial concern would be over increasing traffic on 4800 West.
