HILL AIR FORCE BASE The 84th Radar Evaluation Squadron here has won the North American Aerospace Defense Partridge-Slemon Award for its meritorious service in Operation Noble Eagle.
Gen. Ralph E. "Ed" Eberhart, commander in chief, NORAD Command and commander, U.S. Northern Command, Petersen Air Force Base, Colo., presented the award in a ceremony here Friday.
The 84th RADES is a one-of-a-kind unit consisting of more than 140 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel with operating locations at four air defense sectors. The unit evaluates, tests and establishes optimal equipment configurations for U.S. and allied nations' surveillance radars in support of NORAD, the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Customs Service missions.
The Partridge-Slemon Award is presented annually to recognize an outstanding unit in support of the NORAD Command.
