A member of the Rainbow Family of Living Light pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal misdemeanor charge that arose from last week's gathering in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
Ernie Gunnoe, 23, pleaded guilty to impeding a federal law enforcement officer. U.S. Magistrate Brooke Wells sentenced Gunnoe, of Mantua, Ohio, to time served and placed him on six months probation.
The sentence also requires Gunnoe to leave Utah within 48 hours.
According to court documents, Gunnoe recruited a group of people on June 25 to prevent officers and a tow-truck operator from removing cars that were blocking access to a Forest Service road in the area. A police officer was hit in the face and the neck with a rock during the event, though Gunnoe is not alleged to have thrown it.
