OREM Police continue to search for the driver of a black Jetta that may have caused a fatal accident Tuesday on 1-15 in Utah County.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Doug McCleve said that the department has received several tips but continues to investigate the accident that killed 19-year-old Kolby Demarco.
Witnesses told police the Jetta swerved in front of the white Jeep Wrangler driven by Annie Jorgensen, 18, Lindon. Demarco was riding in the Jeep's passenger seat.
Neither wore seat belts. Both were ejected.
Police are investigating the possibility that the two vehicles made contact, resulting in a black paint transfer that was found on the right front corner of the Jeep.
Officials will look for white paint scratched on any Jetta they investigate.
Some 110 black Jettas are registered in Utah County, but it is uncertain if the car had a Utah license plate. Police hope more witnesses will come forward with information.
Witnesses said Jorgensen swerved to avoid colliding with the Jetta. Her Jeep then went into the median and rolled three times.
Demarco, 19, of American Fork, died at scene. Jorgensen, who has slipped in and out of consciousness since the crash, remains hospitalized.
Anyone with information is urged to call UHP at 374-7030.
