- Floats will make their homestretch down the heart of Provo at Center Street, so if you arrive late, take a seat and you won't miss a thing.
- For the best shade from the blazing sun, Center Street is the best alternative. Big trees provide a nice shade, and there is plenty of grass for a comfortable seat.
- If you sit along University Avenue, try to sit on the east side of the road. The sun doesn't hit the east side until about 10:30 a.m.
- The parade route will be closed after 6 a.m., so you'll have to find another way into the city. University Parkway, University Avenue from the south end and State Street are the best ways of getting to the parade.
- Bring some sandwiches, snacks and plenty of water. It's going to be a hot one.
- Warning: Strollers and folding chairs can be a nightmare.
- If you have kids, bring a blanket so they can sit on the curb for a great view.
- Hide from the sun. Wear a hat and apply lots of sunscreen.
- Shady areas can be the best protection against sun and heat.
- Games and books to occupy your children before the parade begins is a good idea.
- Pets should be left at home.
- First Aid will be available from emergency medical crews stationed along the parade route.
- Leave the "poppers" at home. These traditional July 4 items can scare the horses, which could cause serious injuries.
- If you find or lose a child, go to one of the lost-child centers or contact a police officer.
- Bring a camera. Capture a great patriotic moment at the parade. Also, people are welcome to take pictures of the floats. The staging areas are at the north parking lot at Provo High School and behind Zions Bank at 1060 N. University.
- Bring your wallet. Concessionaires will patrol the parade carrying such goodies as kettle corn, cotton candy, snow cones and drinks.
- Worried about finding a good seat? Reserve a prime spot on the bleachers. Tickets can be purchased for $5 at the main office of America's Freedom Festival at Provo. Call 370-8052 for more information.
