Accreditation given to 3 hospitals

PROVO — Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Orem Community Hospital and American Fork Hospital have each received another three-year accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The three-year accreditation granted to the trio of IHC facilities is the maximum possible from the organization.

Surveyors spent several days in each facility in April, evaluating hospital compliance with national standards for patient safety and quality of care.

In addition to the accreditation, the commission also lauded the hospitals for the treatment of congestive heart failure. They also received high marks for their Newborn Intensive Care Units.

The next accreditation survey for the IHC hospitals in Utah County will take place in 2006.
