Road closures set in Provo Friday

If your Independence Days plans include traveling to Provo for the grand parade of America's Freedom Festival at Provo, take heed of advice from the police department on road closures and delays.

Road closures will begin at 7 a.m.

Closures are as follows:

• The 5K will impact traffic on 820 North, 1250 East, 700 North, Seven Peaks Boulevard and Center Street.

• The 10K run will alter traffic on Birch Lane, 900 East, Heritage Drive, East Campus Drive, North Campus Drive, 450 East, 1650 North, Canyon Road, 1230 North, University Avenue, 100 South, 200 East, East Center Street, Seven Peaks Boulevard, 700 North, and 1250 East.

• A 7:15 a.m. closure will begin along the route of the grand parade on University Avenue from 960 North to 100 South and from University on Center to 900 East.

• Pre-parade activities begin at 7:30 a.m., and the parade begins at 9 a.m.

• Additional road closures because of event staging and parade participants will effect traffic on 900 East from 300 South to 700 North.

The recommended detour route will be Freedom Boulevard from University Parkway to 300 South. Motorists are advised to use caution in all parade areas.
