PITTSBURGH (AP) The trial of former political strategist Joseph Waldholtz, who is accused of stealing from his stepmother and his brother, has been postponed until August because of scheduling conflicts.
The non-jury trial before Allegheny County Judge Jeffrey Manning had resumed Wednesday after being postponed since late January because a witness was unavailable.
Waldholtz is charged with forgery, theft and receiving stolen property. According to prosecutors, he cashed checks from his stepmother's account, a $25,000 insurance check to her from his father's estate and a $5,200 death-benefits check from the Department of Veterans Affairs to his brother.
At the time, Waldholtz was on probation for writing bad checks, forcing his ex-wife, former Utah Rep. Enid Greene, to abandon re-election hopes in 1996.
