1922~2003
Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and teacher, Anna Barbara Tobler Jones, 81, passed away June 11, 2003 at the Heritage Bennion Care Center.
Barbara was born April 21, 1922 to John Henry Tobler and Mary Elizabeth Stucki in Overton, NV.
Barbara was an active member of the LDS Church. She graduated from Moapa High School, then married Acil Clarence Jones on December 20, 1940 in Las Vegas, NV, who preceded her in death on March 25, 1957. Her marriage was later solemnized on March 29, 1958 in the St. George Temple.
After the death of her husband, she raised her four children on her own. She graduated from Southern Utah State University in June, 1964 with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She taught the 3rd grade in Grantsville, UT for 16 years. She was a beautiful seamstress and made many dresses for her daughters. She crocheted many afghans and receiving blankets for her children and grandchildren whom she loved so much.
She had four children, who loved her dearly, Clarence Acil Jones, who preceded her in death, Roma Kaye (Jack) Holt, Enterprise, UT; Darwin (Becky) Jones, West Valley, UT and Colleen (Tim) Brummond, Houston, TX. Her posterity includes 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters, Margie Ferry and Lily Stucki and one brother, Owen Tobler. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son; brothers, LeRay Tobler, LeRoy Tobler, Ervin Tobler, Rondie Tobler and Faye Tobler; sisters, Lettie Whitney and Esther Sullivan; and grandchild, Anna Krista Ackley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, St. George, UT. Viewing will be held from 9-10:30 a.m., prior to the services. Interment will be held in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221. Condolences may be sent through our website at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
