New this season: At Disneyland, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a journey through the Hundred-Acre Wood on an endless pursuit of honey. At Disney's California Adventure, Disney's Aladdin, a live Broadway-style staging of the adventures of Aladdin and his magical genie, and Playhouse Disney, a live stage show featuring the stars of Disney Channel children's programs.
Overall: Disneyland opened in 1955 as the first themed park. The park has eight areas: MainStreet U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown and Tomorrowland. Closes most nights with fireworks spectacular. Parents of young children will go home with "It's a Small World" ringing in their ears. Disney's California Adventure opened in February 2001 and has 25 attractions, including Soarin' Over California (a hang-gliding simulation), the California Dreamin' roller coaster and the Grizzly River Run white-water rafting ride.
