An employee of the U.S. Postal Service has been indicted in federal court on mail theft charges.
James Terry Hadley is accused of taking checks and a package between August and January 2002, according to an indictment in U.S. District Court dated May 1. He is charged with five counts of theft of mail by a postal employee.
Three of the checks were from the U.S. Treasury and totaled $6,781.35, the indictment stated, while two other checks were from Avaya Inc., and added up to $360. The package, according to the indictment, was from Lands End Direct Merchants, a clothing catalog.
