Citing the impact of the economic downturn and an increase in fuel prices, the Utah Transit Authority is holding several public hearings to discuss a fare increase.
UTA is proposing to raise adult cash fares from the current $1.25 to $1.50 in order to maintain UTA's current level of service.
The public hearings are scheduled as follows:
- Utah County: May 6, Provo City Library, 55 N. University, Provo, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Weber County: May 7, Weber County Library auditorium, 2464 Jefferson, Ogden, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Box Elder County: May 13, Brigham City Hall City Council chambers, 20 N. Main, Brigham City, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Davis County: May 14, Farmington City Hall multipurpose room, 130 N. Main, Farmington, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Salt Lake County: May 15, UTA offices, 3600 S. 700 West, Salt Lake City, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Tooele County: May 20, Tooele County Courthouse auditorium, 47 S. Main, Tooele, 7 to 9 p.m.
- Daytime session: Salt Lake County, May 20, UTA offices, 3600 S. 700 West, Salt Lake City, 1 to 3 p.m.
