After reading the letter by University of Utah law student Douglas DeVore, my esteem for the school fell another step. Rational thought seems absent from at least this lawyer-to-be.
Mr. DeVore asked if a Columbine-type shooting needs to happen here for laws banning concealed weapons in schools to be passed. Does anyone out there really think that the Columbine murderers had concealed weapons permits? (The answer, as they were juveniles, is no.)
Anyone with an IQ higher than your average grapefruit can understand that a law banning legally permitted concealed weapons in schools would not have stopped the Columbine murders. But a legally carried weapon may have helped minimize the loss of life.
