Connecticut-based Trans-Lux West Corp. said Monday that it has sold its custom sports division, Trans-Lux Sports, to Belgium-based Barco Inc. The move includes a Trans-Lux facility in Logan.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Trans-Lux West has produced custom video displays, message centers and scoreboards to professional sports teams, arenas and universities.

Barco specializes in the design, development and production of large-scale display products for the media and entertainment markets. Barco said Monday it also had acquired assets of China-based Beijing Leyard Electronics Technology Co. Ltd., which designs, manufactures and installs LED displays for the Asian market.

Trans-Lux Corp. will continue to design, manufacture, sell and rent its catalog and custom commercial outdoor LED display systems, as well as provide its line of scoreboards and electronic signage marketed to sports venues such as high schools and smaller stadiums, through its manufacturing facilities in Des Moines, Iowa.

Trans-Lux's indoor display business used in the financial, gaming, corporate, retail and transportation markets remains unchanged and will continue to operate from its Connecticut headquarters facility.
