Obituary: Joyce Garrick

LEHI - Our mother, sister, and friend, Joyce Henrichsen Garrick, has added a new destination to her travels; a long awaited vacation from a body consumed with cancer and lupus. (Bon Voyage, my darling little girl, I will see you on the other side. I will love you forever, I will love you for always. "Your Baby Daughter.")

At age 72, she died at her home in Lehi, March 22, 2003.

She was born January 9, 1931 in Holladay, Utah, the 5th child of Harold Ralph and Ruth Stevenson Henrichsen.

She was preceded in death by sister, Janice; brother, Harold Ralph Jr.; brother, Kenneth Dale; her parents; and numerous special relatives and friends.

Joyce was a homemaker, an outreach worker, and raised Arabian horses. She had lived in Holladay and Midvale before settling in Lehi. She served in the LDS Church as Relief Society teacher, counselor and President; a counselor, President and teacher in the YWMIA; Sunday School Secretary, Ward and Meeting House Librarian. She was the first Woman President of the Utah Arabian Horse Club and Secretary of Arabian Horse Shows. She had been a volunteer for several civic and local organizations.

Survived by children: Christine (Randy) Laird, Debra Garrick, Vickie Garrick, Ann (Craig) Hathenbruck, Russ and Larry Ann Castle Fericks; brother, Robert Brent (Laverna) Henrichsen; sister-in-law, Doreen Henrichsen; grandchildren: Stephen R. Crane, Randall Garrick, Michelle Hathenbruck, Sonya and Travis Laney, Michael Hathenbruck, Amanda and Scott Townes, Kim and Byron Stilson, Randall Laird, Jefferson Fericks, Patrick Fericks; great-grandchildren: Christopher Jordan, Michaela Laney, Colton Townes; special cousins and friends, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lehi North Stake Center, 2200 N. 1200 E. Friends and family may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
