Tired of spam? University of Utah experts have suggestions to minimize the nuisance:
- Don't share your e-mail address indiscriminately. Be selective.
- If you have friends who add your address to long lists of people they message, ask them to remove it. Spammers love long lists.
- If you get objectionable spam, report it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection or to the Federal Trade Commission at uce@ftc.gov, telephone 1-877-382-4357.
- If the direction "to be removed" appears in the header, do not click on it.
- Change your e-mail address if necessary.
