Attention all aspiring American Idols and Star Search contestants: The Stingers have announced National Anthem audition dates for the 2003 season.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m.-noon and Tuesday, March 25, from 5-8 p.m.
Auditions will be for a chance to sing the anthem before one of the 72 Stingers home games this season. Singers and performers of any kind are encouraged to audition. The Stingers will accept solo acts, groups, choruses or choirs, bands, orchestras and anyone with a respectful version of "The Star Spangled Banner."
Tryouts will be held at Franklin Covey Field (corner of West Temple and 1300 South) in Salt Lake City and will be held on the playing field. Performers will be auditioned in the order they arrive.
All singers will be expected to sing the anthem without music and must know the words without reading them. Instrumental-only anthems will also be accepted.
Groups of five or more who can't make the audition should call Mike Weisbart at the Stingers office at 801-464-6926 to make arrangements to deliver a recording.
