Pat Riley is going after the NBA's referees again.
The Miami Heat coach was incensed about the officiating in his team's 101-87 home loss to Portland on Wednesday night.
"It was an absolute officiating tragedy," said Riley, fined $50,000 earlier this season for criticizing the refs. "I thought I was at the comedy store watching some kind of comedian out there laughing with the Blazers, and talking to them, and smiling with them. It was so unprofessional."
Riley was most annoyed by the disparity in free throws, with the Heat taking seven and the Trail Blazers 32.
"You cannot overcome 32-7," Riley said. "The residual of that is that you go for the home run."
Instead, the Heat struck out, and Riley lashed out at the crew of Derrick Stafford, James Capers and Anthony Jordan.
After Heat assistant coach Stan Van Gundy was called for a technical foul with 49 seconds remaining, Stafford got into a shouting match with Riley on the sideline.
"It's not about you," Stafford shouted at Riley. "Go on TV crying."
Portland's Scottie Pippen, with a season-high 26 points, argued that Miami was taking nothing but jump shots, so the Blazers were not coming close to committing fouls.
