It wasn't until I read the Wilson and Webb "Congrats mayor peace on plaza" column that I realized how worn out at times I get with politics. Ted Wilson provided a nice tribute and little-known background to Rocky Anderson's solution. Lobbyist LaVarr Webb credits the mayor, but he can't just follow Wilson's lead and let us all rest from professional partisanship. Instead, Webb feels a need to punch the clock 24/7 to be the gatekeeper of political motivation.
As a Republican from Utah County, I echo Democrat Ted Wilson in that I believe Mayor Anderson's solution was thoughtful, not political. Having been to India myself and witnessed the unsolvable poverty and crush of inhumanity, I understand Mayor Anderson's motivation. Helplessness in India inspires opportunity at home.
Say what you will about Rocky's party affiliation, alliances or religious background, fair-minded people will realize he's proven his integrity in seeking the right compromise. I'd cross party lines to vote for a person like that.
