Obituary: Philip Wrathall

Philip Wrathall, 87, passed away November 1, 2002 while vacationing with his wife in southern Utah.

Born Sept 4, 1915 to Frederic Arthur and Clara Wetzel Wrathall, he was a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City. He graduated from West High School and the University of Utah with a degree in Banking and Finance. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant in the 14th Armored Division, 500th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.

Phil married Betty Bjorn on May 17, 1952 in Tremonton, UT. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was employed by Mutual of New York Life Insurance Co., Equitable Life Assurance Society, and he retired from the Federal Housing Administration in 1980 after 19 years of service. Phil was an avid golfer and reader. He also enjoyed traveling, hiking, bowling, and family. He was a long time member of the Holladay United Church of Christ. He was admired for his kindness, generosity and intellect. He will be greatly missed.

Phil is survived by his wife, Betty, and children, Robin, Susan (Noel Williams), Jill, Lisa and Shawn. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his five brothers and two sisters, and one grandson. With his death, a generation has ended.

Memorial services will be Wed. Nov 6, 1 p.m. at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 East Murray Holladay Road (4752 South). Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South. Funeral Directors: Evans and Early Mortuary a Dignity Memorial Provider.
