Lehi

Lieutenant Gov. Olene S. Walker will kick off November as Utah Family Month at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Lehi Legacy Center, 123 N. Center.

Lehi has declared the week of Nov. 24-30, Lehi Family Week. Family activities will include guest speakers John and Kim Bytheway, at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, in the Lehi High School gym; Family Flag Night, Monday, Nov. 25; and Family Recreation Day, Friday, Nov. 29.

Orem

Utah Valley State College athletics invites anyone interested in performing the national anthem at the home basketball games for the up-coming season to audition on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 9 a.m., in the Presidential South area of the McKay Events Center.

Those chosen will be scheduled for a home game between Nov. 14 and March 1. Performers will receive tickets for themselves and family members for the scheduled night.

Each performer should come prepared to sing the national anthem. A tape player will be available for accompaniment. Auditions are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove High School will stage "Steel Magnolias" Nov. 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12 each evening at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per adult and $4 per student. Senior citizens are admitted free of charge. Family tickets are $20.

Tired of dumping out old powdered milk from your food storage just to buy more powdered milk? The Utah County office of Utah State University Extension is offering "There's a Cow in the Kitchen" cooking class to help brake the powdered milk cycle.

At the class you can learn how to make tasty and easy recipes, including five-minute cheesecake, cottage cheese, smoothies, breakfast drinks, puddings, pies, whipped "cream" toping, mock sour cream, yogurt, chowder and more.
