A teenager was killed early Tuesday while riding with friends in a jeep in Corner Canyon.
Killed was:
Steve Bowers, 18.
Bowers was passenger in a jeep being driven in an area known as Lower Corner Canyon near 12300 South and 2000 East, said Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Peggy Faulkner.
The group was driving on a road closed to the public when the driver apparently lost control and the jeep rolled down an embankment into a trench. Bowers was ejected, and the jeep came to rest on top of him, Faulkner said.
Sheriff's deputies received a cell phone call from the other victims about 12:17 a.m., Faulkner said. They weren't completely sure where they were, so a search and rescue team was dispatched to find the injured boys.
The incident was still under investigation Tuesday.
