Course description: The site of this week's Women's State Amateur, Ogden Golf & Country Club is one of the state's oldest courses, having been built in 1914. With three par 5's on the back, it's a par 37 and one of the few par 73 courses in the state. The course is a traditional style layout with tree-lined fairways, smaller greens and no gimmicks. Most of the holes are fairly straight with only one sharp dogleg (No. 5). Bunkers around most greens, make precision approach shots a premium. The par 4's on the course are especially strong, while four of the five par 5's are under 500 yards, even from the back tees.

Holes to remember: Not many courses finish with a par 3, but the 18th hole, which stretches from 192 to 129 yards from four different tees, is a great finishing hole. The green is slightly elevated and the tee shot is all carry. You can still hit short shots — you'll just have an extremely uphill second shot, perhaps from the bottom of the gully. A bunker in front and one behind catch a lot of stray shots. The 421-yard par 4 9th is a slight dogleg right, downhill off the tee, which rises gradually to a two-tiered green surrounded by five bunkers.
