1. EMIGRATION CANYON, Jan. 2 — Rhonda Manning, 46, was found dead, along with her husband, James Manning, 56, in their home in Emigration Canyon. Police say James Manning stabbed his wife Rhonda in the neck and then hanged himself in the garage. He left a suicide note saying the two had been having problems. Police had responded to their house before on domestic violence calls. Both had criminal records. Detectives believe the murder-suicide happened on New Year's Eve. Method: stabbing.

2. WEST VALLEY CITY, Jan. 13 — Christopher Tony Velasquez had turned 25 hours before his 4 a.m. death. He was shot multiple times outside of a home at 1505 W. Sunset Ave. (2910 South). Velasquez tried to get help from some homes in the area but died on the front porch of the home. West Valley police say a fellow gang member shot Velasquez while they were fighting about a girlfriend. Mark D. Prideaux, 25, faces a four-day trial in April on charges of murder, a first-degree felony, and possessing a dangerous weapon, a second-degree felony. Method: shooting.

3. LAYTON, Jan. 15 — Susan MacGuire was gunned down in her office at 1848 N. Hillfield Road. She was 16 weeks pregnant. The fetus did not survive. Susan had a protective order against her ex-husband, Roger Martin MacGuire, who has been charged with two counts of capital murder. Lawyers on both sides are waiting for a judge to rule on whether MacGuire can be charged with murder for killing the fetus. Method: shooting.

4. SOUTH SALT LAKE, Jan. 19 — Rhoda Wright, 18 months, died from injuries sustained at the home of her baby sitter, Michelle Afton Michaels. Wright was the daughter of Lori Wright and Paul Kingston, leader of the Kingston polygamy clan. Michaels claimed Rhoda fell off a chair and hit her head on the tile floor Jan. 16. She seemed OK at first but later went into cardiac arrest. Rhoda died at Primary Children's a few days later. Doctors said the large skull fracture Rhoda suffered was more consistent with child abuse than an accidental fall. A big question for police was how long Michaels and the other members of the Kingston family waited before calling paramedics. Police say it was 45 minutes to an hour after the fall. Michaels is scheduled for a three-day jury trial in March on one count of child abuse homicide, a second-degree felony. Method: head trauma.

5. SOUTH OGDEN, Jan. 24 — Loris Jones, 64, was shot and killed in her garage by her husband, Calvin Carter, 67, at their home, 5262 S. 1035 East, police said. Her husband went back into his house when SWAT teams arrived and fatally shot himself in the head after the SWAT team entered the home. Police had no records of any prior domestic incidents. Method: shooting.

6. TAYLORSVILLE, Jan. 22 — Investigators believe Laura Lee Schroeder, 44, was killed by multiple blunt force injuries to the head. Her husband, Kerry Joe Schroeder, 37, contacted the office of Salt Lake defense attorney Bradley Rich Jan. 26. Rich's office then led Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives to a car at 6105 W. 2700 South, where they located Laura Schroeder's body wrapped in sheets and a sleeping bag in the trunk. Laura Schroeder's body had been in the trunk two to four days, according to police. Police believe the woman was killed during a domestic dispute at the couple's Taylorsville home, 4843 Katie St. (3365 West). Kerry Joe Schroeder faces a three-day trial at the end of January on charges of murder, a first-degree felony; tampering with evidence, a second-degree felony; and desecration of a dead human body, a third-degree felony. 7. OGDEN, Jan. 28 — Troy Anthony Florez, 29, was stabbed multiple times during a fight. Florez's parents decided to pull him off life support Feb. 2. Felipe Santana, 21, faces a four-day trial in March on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: stabbing.

8. CEDAR CITY, Jan 31 — Cynthia Boggs, 36, was found dead about six miles away from her mobile home, 1229 N. 6525 West, that had just burned to the ground. She had been shot multiple times. Her husband, John Wayne Boggs, was arrested on unrelated drug charges. About a week later, Carl Gary Wilcken, 18, and Zach Russell Beatty, 17, were arrested for murder, arson and robbery. Beatty pleaded guilty April 17 to murder, a first-degree felony, and was given a five years to life prison sentence. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to amend the original charge of capital murder to first-degree felony murder and drop counts of aggravated arson and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies. Wilcken accepted the same plea bargain Sept. 13 and was also sentenced to five years to life in prison. Method: shooting.

9. SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 9 — The body of Phyllis Coreene Lenear, 45, was discovered in a pool of blood just before 4 p.m. in a duplex near 2700 South and Windsor Circle (840 East). Police say Lenear was shot once. Investigators found a weapon inside the house. Neighbors told police Lenear was having a domestic dispute with a man. Police were called after neighbors heard shots fired and saw people running from the house. Trent Ray Tucker, 35, was charged Feb. 14 with murder, a first-degree felony. He was arrested in Colorado and booked into jail Aug. 2. Tucker is scheduled for a four-day trial at the end of April. Method: shooting.

10. OGDEN, Feb. 10 — Isaac Austin, 4 months, died in an apparent child abuse incident. The boy's father, John L. Austin, 35, said he was carrying the baby, tripped and accidently dropped him. Medical examiners said the child suffered bleeding between the brain and skull that they contend indicates violent shaking. John Austin is scheduled for trial on capital murder in April. If convicted, he could face the death penalty. Method: child abuse.

11. MILLARD COUNTY, Feb. 22 — The body of Virgil L. Barney, 67, was found just after 7 a.m. on the side of the road near the I-15/I-70 interchange. Investigators said Barney picked up Jerry Grant Sheffield, 36, hitchhiking, possibly in Mesquite, Nev. Sheffield is believed to have stabbed Barney three times in his car, police said. Police believe Sheffield then dragged Barney's body out of the car near the I-70/I-80 interchange, took his wallet and other personal items and his car. Sheffield committed suicide after police pulled him over on I-90 near Butte, Mont. Method: stabbing.

12. SALT LAKE CITY, March 3 — Todd Jay Koester, 21, was shot and killed in the driver's seat of a car, apparently while he and another man attempted to flee from attackers in a parking lot at 724 E. 2100 South. The passenger told police that two men in a four-door gold Honda Accord shot the driver shortly before 8:18 p.m. The attackers fled in the car, disregarding the passenger, who ran inside a store and yelled for employees to phone for help. When police arrived, they found the passenger giving CPR to the victim. Prosecutors charged Takim Agbor, 21, Salt Lake City, and Bryan Bernhard, 22, Holladay, with murder, a first-degree felony, for their alleged involvement in Koester's slaying. Charges state that Bernhard pulled up behind Koester's car and that Agbor shot Koester. Bernhard was arrested March 8 in Vail, Colo., and pleaded guilty May 29 to attempted causing of a catastrophe, a third-degree felony. Agbor pleaded guilty June 20 to an amended charge of manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and was ordered to serve one to 15 years in prison. Method: shooting.

13. SOUTH SALT LAKE, March 11 — Evaristo Cardenas, 24, died a few hours after being shot in the head at 2 a.m. in the doorway of his apartment, 3462 S. 300 East. Police are still looking for a man they believe wanted revenge on Cardenas because of a beating a week earlier. Method: shooting.

14. and 15. BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, March 31 — Valerie Martinez, 23, and her boyfriend, Todd Hedgepeth, 30, were killed while driving down the canyon together. Martinez and Costello apparently were followed by Martinez's ex-boyfriend, Christopher Costello, 26. Costello apparently ran them off the road, exited his vehicle and shot them both, then turned the gun on himself. Method: shooting.

16. SALT LAKE CITY, April 19 — Daniel J. Hornsby, 18, was shot and killed in the parking lot of a bank. Joseph A. Carbine, 29, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a second-degree felony, in November and is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 4. Method: shooting.

17. PLEASANT GROVE, April 25 — Mina R. Pajela, 54, was found dead in a car near the parking area of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 210 North and 600 West. A burning rag was sticking out of the car's gas tank. Pajela was shot in the head. Police are looking for a woman seen running away from the car. So far, no motive is known and no arrests have been made. No murder charges have been filed in connection with Pajela's slaying. Method: shooting.

18. RICHFIELD, May 2 — Amy Mariam Davis, 78, was killed sometime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. according to Richfield City Police Chief John Evans. Davis was found by her son, Merdell Davis, around 2:40 p.m. May 3 in a bedroom of her home, 360 S. 300 West. Morris T. Mullins,18, pleaded guilty Dec. 3 to capital murder. As part of a plea bargain, prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty and dropped a rape charge against Mullins, who was 17 at the time of his arrest. He will be sentenced March 21. Method: beating.

19. WEST VALLEY CITY, May 6 — Mineva Finau, 37, was found beaten to death in a bedroom closet at her house, 3132 S. 4400 West. Her husband, Sosiua Toki Finau, faces a two-day trial in February on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: assault.

20. SALT LAKE CITY, May 9 — Juan Prieto, 47, was beaten to death at 291 S. Rio Grande St. (455 West). Gary D. Rabenold, 47, pleaded guilty Oct. 31 to homicide by assault, a third-degree felony, and was ordered to serve zero to five years in prison. Both men were staying at the men's shelter, 210 S. Rio Grande St. Police say Rabenold awoke from a drunken stupor and believed the victim had stolen his wallet. Rabenold threw the victim to the ground, grabbed him by the back of the head and beat his face several times into the concrete, police said. Method: assault.

21. OGDEN, May 11 — 6-month-old Nathan Scheer was found dead. The infant's mother, Jennifer Robinson, 23, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and attempted murder, a second-degree felony, for allegedly trying to kill her son on May 6 and then trying again on May 11. Her court appearance on the charges is set for Jan. 14. Method: suffocation.

22. SALT LAKE CITY, May 21 — Ricardo Martinez-Tapia died of a gunshot wound to the chest at the Sky Harbor Apartments, 278 N. 1815 West. One witness went to the clubhouse to get her mail and heard a gunshot, police said. Four men allegedly ran from the apartment, one reportedly carrying a gun. Minutes later several people left the apartment carrying an injured man, who was later pronounced dead at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. Police have not identified any suspects in the slaying. Method: shooting.

23. OGDEN, May 26 — 19-month-old Schaedie Jaedin Bolan died while in the care of an 18-year-old baby sitter. Originally, the baby sitter said the boy accidently drowned while taking a bath. The state medical examiner, however, listed the death as a homicide and ruled the baby's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. Derek Byron West, 19, pleaded guilty Oct. 16 to a reduced charge of child abuse homicide, a second-degree felony, in connection with the baby's death. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 8. Method: shaken baby syndrome.

24. SALT LAKE CITY, May 26 — Isaul M. Parra, 28, was fatally stabbed at his apartment, marking the second killing at the Sky Harbor Apartments, 147 N. 1815 West, in five days. The murders were not related, according to police. The victim was stabbed in the chest. Daniel Montes, 22, was charged May 31 with murder, a first-degree felony, and theft, a second-degree felony, for allegedly leaving the scene in Parra's car. A $500,000 warrant for his arrest is outstanding. Method: stabbing.

25. SALT LAKE COUNTY, May 30 — Frank Mahler, 39, was shot in the head after partying with Michael Todd Barton, 34, at Barton's apartment, 4658 S. 1455 East. The two were reportedly drinking all night and then got into an argument. Barton originally told investigators he thought Mahler was an intruder, but witnesses said they had seen the two together all night. Barton is scheduled for a Jan. 7 motion hearing on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: shooting.

26. SOUTH SALT LAKE, June 5 — Jess Alan Dummar, 53, was stabbed to death just as he stepped off a UTA bus on State Street at Burton Avenue. A man from the back of the bus jumped up and ran after Dummar as he was getting off the bus and stabbed him multiple times with a 7- to 8-inch blade as Dummar stood in the entry of the bus. A motive is still unknown and police have yet to identify a suspect. Method: stabbing.

27. TOOELE, June 5 — Sharon Miller, 40, was stabbed multiple times as she left court to check on a protective order she filed against her husband. A man waited outside of court for her, then rammed her SUV with his truck as she left, knocking the SUV on its side. He then jumped in the window and repeatedly stabbed Sharon in the neck and chest with a screwdriver, police said. Sharon died June 9. Charles Miller, 51, is scheduled for a Jan. 29 preliminary hearing on charges of capital murder and aggravated assault. Method: stabbing.

28. OGDEN, June 11 — Craig Tillet, 53, was beaten to death. Tillet, a man and a female were drinking, when the two men got into a fight. The fight turned violent and Tillet was beaten. Tillet was taken to the hospital with severe head trauma and taken off life support the following day. Gordon Leon Walls, 29, is scheduled for trial in late April on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: assault.

29. SALT LAKE CITY, July 4 — Jose Angel Torres-Moncivais, 28, was killed by a single gunshot to the chest about 3 a.m. at 726 S. Jeremy St. (840 West), where he was visiting relatives. Police are still trying to determine a motive. Police are searching for a male Polynesian in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and between 170 and 180 pounds in connection with the slaying. He has long, curly black hair with several blond streaks and was last seen driving an older-model tan or beige truck with a camper shell or a sports utility vehicle. Method: shooting.

30. ROOSEVELT, July 6 — Roosevelt Police Chief Cecil Gurr was shot and killed about 8:30 p.m. while responding to a domestic dispute. Lee Roy Wood faces a preliminary hearing in January on charges of one count of capital murder, three counts of attempted aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, possessing a dangerous weapon, a second-degree felony and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. Method: shooting.

31. OGDEN, July 14 — Eric Delgado, 19, was beaten to death. Police said he and another man had an argument, possibly related to drugs. Steven Lee Johnson, 25, is scheduled for a trial in March on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: assault.

32. SALT LAKE CITY, July 20 — Robert F. Young, 57, died from blunt force trauma, according to the state medical examiner. A weapon has not been determined. Police found Young dead on the floor of his apartment, 432 E. Chapman Place (225 South), at 9:08 p.m. Greg Velasquez is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 14 on a first-degree felony murder charge. Method: beating.

33. SALT LAKE CITY, July 22 — Fredrick Kennedy Cottrell, 38, was found dead on a street median near 441 North and 200 West about 1 a.m. Police believe Cottrell was shot over a drug deal. Armando Franco-Mendez, 20, was charged July 27 with murder, a first-degree felony, as well as aggravated assault and tampering with a witness, both third-degree felonies, in connection with the slaying. A $500,000 arrest warrant for his arrest is outstanding. Method: shooting.

34. SALT LAKE CITY, July 25 — Todd Tafoya, 38, was stabbed outside the Crow Bar, 1871 W. North Temple. Tafoya and his cousin were outside the bar when they began arguing with a man and his father over some comments the father and son made to a female employee of the bar. A fight ensued during which Tafoya was stabbed with a knife, police said. Gene Wood, 32, is scheduled for trial beginning Jan. 28 on one count of murder, a first-degree felony. Method: stabbing.

35. OGDEN, July 29 — Robert Chacon, 23, died at McKay-Dee Hospital after his friends drove him to the emergency room at 11:34 p.m. the night before to be treated for a gunshot wound to the head. Police didn't learn of the shooting until the hospital notified them Chacon was in the emergency room, according to police. Chacon apparently was shot while he was inside a vehicle with friends in the central Ogden area, police said. Authorities still haven't determined who shot Chacon or a motive for the murder. Method: shooting.

36. KEARNS, July 30 — Raul Apodeca, 32, was shot outside Club Rumba, 4050 W. 5415 South, by a man he had argued with inside. Investigators are still looking for the gunman. Method: shooting.

37. MURRAY, July 30 — Ike T. Johnson, 45, was shot and run over in a parking lot, 5400 S. 900 East, by Kent D. Kettle, police said. Johnson was dating Kettle's ex-wife. Kettle was waiting for Johnson that morning as he left the ex-wife's apartment. Kettle fired several rounds at Johnson, a short car chase ensued, then Johnson was shot again and run over as he ran across a parking lot. Kettle, 36, committed suicide later that night following a four-hour standoff with police. Method: shooting.

38. LEHI, Aug. 3, — Lehi police officer Joseph D. Adams was shot and killed by a man during a struggle following a routine traffic stop. As Adams was trying to arrest the man, he was shot with a small caliber gun. Adams was able to return fire, hitting the man at least once. Adams was rushed to LDS Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Arturo Javier Scott Welch is scheduled for a 13-day trial beginning Aug. 14 on charges of capital murder and possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony. Method: shooting.

39. SANDY, Aug. 18 — Ebelin Sanchez, 22, was shot to death with a handgun around 5:30 a.m., apparently by Luis Alberto Sanchez, Sandy police Lt. Kevin Thacker said. The victim was slain in an upstairs bedroom of her parents' home, 11254 S. Sandy Ridge Circle (1280 East). After the woman was shot in the head, it appears Luis Sanchez, 22, turned the gun on himself in the downstairs living room as he was confronted by her family, Thacker said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Method: shooting.

40. SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 19 — Jose Daniel Rivera, 24, was stabbed in the chest during a party at 158 E. Wilson Ave. (1750 South). About 2 a.m., two men and one woman tried to enter the home but were told to leave. A fight ensued in which Rivera was stabbed an unknown number of times with an unknown weapon. After the stabbing, the three people tried to leave in a car. Police have not made any arrests in the case. Method: stabbing.

41. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 6 — Anel Toporan, 18, was stabbed in the torso an unknown number of times during a fight between two groups of people. The stabbing began as a fight outside Club Axis. Toporan and a friend, Almir Bilic, 20, drove themselves to St. Mark's Hospital, where Toporan was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. Bilic was treated and released. Method: stabbing.

42 and 43. PLEASANT VIEW, Sept. 6 — Tricia A. Woodruff and her mother, Pat Woodruff, were shot and killed. A man kidnapped Tricia after she got off work and took her to her parents' house, where she and her mother were killed. Tricia's father was able to escape from the house unharmed. Prosecutors have charged Jeremy Funk, 30, Tricia's ex-husband, with three counts of attempted aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated burglary, all first-degree felonies. Funk is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a competency hearing. Method: shooting.

44. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 6 — Kang Ho Lee, 24, a convenience store clerk at Sunshine Market, 1845 S. 700 East, did everything an armed gunman asked him to but was shot and killed by the robber about 7:20 p.m. Police called the shooting very brazen, noting that robbers rarely shoot a clerk if he complies. The clerk was shot once in the chest, and police have not identified a suspect. Method: shooting.

45. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 7 — Jeremy Facundo was shot and killed, then dumped on a street corner. Prosecutors charged Anthony L. LaPearle, 23, Joshua Allen Nielson, 21, Travis Rigby, 18, and Cory Young, 26, with murder, a first-degree felony. A confidential informant told police four men were planning to "jack" a man they called "Steve," charges state. They told Steve they had $1,400 of methamphetamine to sell. But actually, they didn't have any meth to sell. About 6:30 a.m., the four men drove a maroon car to 400 N. Grant St. (740 West) and met two or three people in a green car, charges state. A handgun was in the maroon car, and the men passed it around, charges state. Method: shooting.

46. SALT LAKE COUNTY, Sept. 7 — Ranee Nieman, 10 months, died from blunt force trauma to her head, suffering severe skull fractures. The mother's boyfriend, Garritt Anderson, 24, was charged with child abuse homicide.

47. SANDY — Sept. 22 — Stacy Lemon, 25, was allegedly killed by her ex-husband, Brandon Lemon, 26, who then took her car and drove down past the Thistle area where he committed suicide. His charred body was found inside the burned-out car. He was burned beyond recognition, and police had to use dental records to identify him. Stacy was found with a belt around her neck that was also attached to a doorknob. She suffered trauma to the head, and a hammer and a steak knife were found next to her. The two had been divorced for a month. They had two children. A note found next to Stacy from Brandon said it "had to be done." Method: assault.

48. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 28 — Leonel F. Perales, 25, was shot and killed while sitting in the back of a Honda Civic near 700 South and 700 East about 4:30 a.m. He was shot by someone in another car passing by. Perales was one of three people in the car. After he was shot, he was transported to LDS Hospital where he died. Detectives have gathered information on a suspect, but an arrest is still pending, police said. Method: shooting.

49. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 29 — Lee E. Lundskog, 51, was found beaten to death behind a 7-Eleven, 1285 N. Redwood. Adrian Whitfield Gordon, 20, was convicted of murder, a first-degree felony following a three-day bench trial. He could face up to life in prison when he's sentenced Feb. 1. Method: assault.

50. SALT LAKE COUNTY, Sept. 29 — Kehndra Isakson, 19, was shot and killed at a party at 5481 W. Westslope Drive (4970 South). The shooter reportedly argued with another person following a game of craps in the kitchen. Seruka Tiliaia, 20, is scheduled for a two-day preliminary hearing in late January on charges of murder and attempted murder, both first-degree felonies. Raphael Haney, 18, faces a jury trial in March on one count of obstructing justice. Another juvenile was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Method: shooting.

51. FAIRVIEW, Sanpete County, Oct. 4 — Wilma Nielson, 65, was shot at a Fairview residence sometime before 9:40 p.m. She was transported to Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mt. Pleasant and later airlifted to LDS Hospital, where she died the morning of Oct. 5. Nielson's 65-year-old husband, Earl Kent Nielson, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to manslaughter, a second-degree felony. He is scheduled to be sentenced in February. Method: shooting.

52. ST. GEORGE, Oct. 9 — John P. Anderson, 49, La Verkin, was stabbed multiple times in his barber shop, Anderson's Chop Shop. Claudio Mauricio Martinez, 21, was charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in connection with the slaying. Anderson's murder was the first homicide in St. George in four years, police said. Method: stabbing.

53. SALT LAKE COUNTY, Oct. 13 — The body of Don Dorton, 36, was discovered near 4100 South and 8400 West Oct. 13, by a couple walking their dog along a dirt road adjacent to Kennecott property. Darren N. Grueber Jr., 18, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 16 on charges of murder and aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies. Method: assault.

54 and 55. DUTCH JOHN, DAGGETT COUNTY, OCT. 21 — Brad Gross, 23, and Kelly Carter, 27, were found shot to death near Dutch John near Flaming Gorge Dam. Two men allegedly shot the men, took their truck and then became involved in a shootout with deputies after being spotted near Price. The men dumped the truck, leading to an intense manhunt. They were arrested early in the morning of Oct. 23. Lewis Heffelfinger, 53, and his son, Michael D. Heffelfinger, 23, of New Mexico, were charged with attempted homicide in Carbon County. Prosecutors in Daggett County are waiting to file charges in their case. Method: shooting.

56. AND 57. STOCKTON, TOOELE COUNTY, Oct. 22 — 20-month-old Emma Rose Ellison and her 8-month-old brother, Seth Ellison, were shot and killed by their father, Scott Ellison, 41, who then committed suicide. They were found by hunters on a rural road in the foothills of Stockton. The father mailed a suicide note prior to the shooting, saying he was angry with his wife, whom he had been separated from for two weeks, and wanted to take his children to a better place. He had been taking medicine for anxiety and depression. Method: shooting.

58. OGDEN, Nov. 18 — Randy Smith, 37, was found about 1:35 a.m. at 2026 Madison Ave. Smith was found on the ground outside the house bleeding from his head, Ogden police Lt. David Tarran said. Smith was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. Steve Melvin Predmore, 34, of West Valley City, faces a trial in late February on one count of murder, a first-degree felony, in connection with the slaying. Method: assault.

59. and 60. GRANTSVILLE Nov. 25 — Thomas Schutz, 57, was having a domestic dispute with his wife and she ran next door to Jimbo's Drive Inn, 533 E. Main. He followed and opened fire inside the restaurant, killing Marilyn Schutz, 42, and the owner of the eatery, Jimmie Maddox, 72. He also shot Joyce Fawson, 50, who survived. Schutz then committed suicide. Method: shooting.

61. SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 26 — Michael Wooley, 55, died of trauma from multiple blows to the body, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court. Scott Donald Evans, 45, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony. Evans also apparently lives at the New Grand Hotel. Evans was visiting Wooley in Wooley's second-floor apartment. Evans believed Wooley had his wallet and refused to give it back. This led to an argument, police said. Evans struck Wooley, who was sitting in his wheelchair, charges state. Method: beating.

62. PAYSON, Nov. 29 — Stacey Mason, 31, was found shot in her apartment, 777 W. 300 South, following a heated argument with her ex-husband. Her two children were home at the time of the shooting. She died after being taken to Mountain View Hospital. Boyd Mason was arrested by police for investigation of criminal homicide.

63. SALT LAKE COUNTY, Dec. 14 — Susan Gall, 57, was found dead in her house, 2925 E. 2965 South, on Dec. 14. Galls's son, Leonard Gall, 25, admitted to killing his mother with an ax, according to court documents. He was charged Dec. 17 with murder, a first-degree felony, and theft, a second-degree felony and arrested in Reno, Nev. Method: assault with an ax.

64. SALT LAKE COUNTY, Dec. 25 — Doris Anna Vasquez, 24, was found dead in her bedroom, 4947 S. Southridge Drive (3830 West), at 1:42 p.m. on Dec. 25. The state medical examiner determined the woman had been strangled. Investigators are looking for a man who was an acquaintance of Vasquez and lived in her neighborhood. The man, who police have not named, has a criminal history and was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in 1999 for investigation of domestic assault, police said. Detectives believe Vasquez was killed sometime in the early morning hours of Dec. 25 and had been dead for several hours before her body was discovered by friends concerned about her whereabouts. Method: strangulation.
