PRICE - Alice Houston Rasmussen, age 88, passed away July 7, 2001, at her home in Price.

She was born Jan. 9, 1913, in Lovell, Big Horn, WY, to John Cooper and Eliza Adelaide Assay Houston. When Alice was 18 she left her beloved Wyoming to attend BYU where she met Arthur Price Rasmussen. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple Oct. 16, 1934. After a short stay in Roosevelt, they moved to Price where they have resided since that time.

She served faithfully in numerous callings throughout her life, including as the Relief Society president, Cultural Refinement Teacher, MIA, Sunday school, and in Scouting. As a leader, she introduced many young people to the 4-H program and was involved in starting the Prehistoric Museum in Price. As a lover of good literature, she served for a time as a city librarian. She loved her vegetable garden and her affiliation with the Knit-Wits.

She is survived by her husband, and children Dorothy (Glenn) Hackwell of Turlock, CA, Helen (Tom) Platis of Topeka, KS, Ruth (Bruce) Buchanan of Farmington, NM, and Art (Lanice) Rasmussen of Price; 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Vera Camp, Lavonne Oveson and sister-in-law Wanda Houston. Preceded in death by sisters Lucy, Ruth, Frieda, and brothers Cooper, James, and Lovell.

Funeral services will be Wed., July 11, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Price LDS 4th Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tues. from 7-9 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Price City Cemetery.
