KAYSVILLE — The city is sponsoring a free screening of “Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kaysville Police Department, 80 Main.

The 45-minute film, produced by the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration, features stark first-person accounts of individuals who have abused opioids or whose children have abused opioids with tragic consequences. The title refers to the unattainable pursuit of the ultimate high.

According to a discussion guide produced by the FBI to accompany the film, the documentary includes strong language, intense content and graphic images.

The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with a panel of experts including Scott Byington, a Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force pharmaceutical investigator; Aaron Clark, an assistant U.S. attorney; Dr. Micheal Webb; and a representative from Davis Behavioral Health.

Utah ranks fourth in the nation for drug overdose deaths, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
