BYU senior JessiKate Riley won the Miss Utah 2017 title over the weekend.
Riley, who received a $10,000 scholarship with the award, will now travel throughout the country to speak as a state ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network.
She will also later compete in The Miss America Pageant, which kicks off on Sept. 10, 2017, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, according to a press release.
Riley, who was raised in Beaver, attends Brigham Young University, where she majors in violin performance. She also hopes to become a recording studio artist in the future.
After performing “Praeludium and Allegro,” by Fritz Kreisler, she won a $200 scholarship in the preliminary talent contest in the pageant.
This is far from Riley’s first award. She won the Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen award in 2014, according to a press release. She is the first winner of both awards.
Riley also won Southern Utah’s Outstanding Teen title.
Salt Lake City’s Jesse Craig placed second in the content, followed by Alexa Knutzen of Springville/Mapleton and Miss Provo Madison Monson. Miss Riverton Whitney Gillman placed fifth.
