Having fun in Utah isn't just for kids, but for adults, too.
Dave & Buster's recently announced it will be opening its first Utah location at the Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City. The restaurant, known for its arcade games, live sports entertainment and American cuisine, is set to open in March 2018.
The press release announcing the new addition said the Gateway has "been looking for a big-name, family friendly venue to anchor its rebranding effort," and that it felt Dave & Buster's was just the right fit.
"This is a huge win for us,” the Gateway's marketing director Edie Trott said in the press release. “We like to offer our visitors something exclusive and unique, and Dave & Buster’s is the perfect one-of-a-kind dining and entertainment experience that we think people can get excited about."
There are now Dave and Buster's locations in 34 other states.
This is just one of many new changes the Gateway has announced in recent months, after being bought by shopping center company Vestar in November 2016.
At the time, Vestar announced it had invested $100 million in the property to revitalize it. The plans included a world-class boutique hotel, an urban playground, an ice-skating rink in the winter, murals painted by top artists and many new dining and entertainment options, according to the Deseret News.
"Our goal is not to compete with the (existing) retail environment, but in order to differentiate ourselves, we need to take this to the next level and create something that is very targeted and very unique," said Jenny Cushing, Vestar's vice president of leasing.
Other announcements the Gateway has previously made include a free Sunday yoga series and a Sunday Gospel Brunch. The Gateway also hosts food trucks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and it now has murals on display for the Utah Foster Care’s Annual Chalk Art Festival from Friday to Sunday.
