So what has Evan McMullin been up to since last November?
He’s been caught in a “near-daily battle with Trump and his supporters,” according to The Atlantic’s McKay Coppins, who recently profiled the BYU graduate who launched an unsuccessful Never Trump bid as an independent presidential candidate in the 2016 election.
The Atlantic highlights McMullin’s recent struggles to find comfort in the new Washington landscape, in which he is a known name who often speaks on CNN or writes for the New York Times, but doesn’t agree with a lot of politicis.
He also faces plenty of ongoing discussions and debates with Trump supporters, or from Washington insiders and leaders, who he once contested.
“Sometimes,” I will wear what at the agency we would call a ‘light disguise’ when I go out in public—like a hat and glasses,” he told The Atlantic. Still, “my CIA tricks aren’t working. Maybe I’ve got to pull out one of my masks.”
The Atlantic’s feature on McMullin will be the highlight of the magazine’s July and August issue this year.
