U.S. Soccer announced the pairing for Real Salt Lake in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Thursday, a team news release said.
A coin flip determined that RSL will travel to play either Sacramento Republic F.C. or Reno 1868 FC on either Tuesday, June 13 or Wednesday, June 14.
Sacramento and Reno, which both compete in the USL, will meet in the third round of the tournament May 31, with the winner set to face RSL.
Though it has never won the tournament, RSL has seen success in the U.S. Open Cup, reaching the tournament final in 2013 and earning a semifinal berth in 2015.
In the 2016 tournament, RSL won its fourth-round match against the Wilmington Hammerheads, but fell to Seattle Sounders in a shootout in the next round.
The team's all-time record in the tournament is 11-11-3, including play-in games from 2007-10.
MLS teams have won each of the last 17 cup titles, and 19 are set to enter play in the round of 32 this year. The winner receives $250,000, the Dewar Challenge Trophy and a bid into the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League.
This year's tournament began with a modern-era record 99 teams. Upon completion of the fourth round, the remaining 16 teams will be placed into groups of four sides, based on geography, and will commence the remainder of the tournament from there.
The following are the dates for the tournament, starting with the fourth round.
