SALT LAKE CITY — A mudslide in Big Cottonwood Canyon has forced the closure of the Mineral Fork all-terrain vehicle trail.

The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest’s Salt Lake Ranger District said in a statement the trail, located about 5 ½ miles from the mouth of the canyon, will remain closed until crews and heavy equipment have repaired the damage, which could take until November.

Visitors are also being reminded to use extreme caution where water is flowing across roads and around fast-moving streams or rivers.
