SALT LAKE CITY — Saint Mary's is preparing for the NCAA Tournament, while BYU heads to the NIT.
It's a bitter pill to swallow for Cougar fans, particularly with the Gaels sweeping their West Coast Conference counterpart BYU in convincing fashion this season.

This year, Saint Mary's returned its top six producers from last season, including Jock Landale, Calvin Hermanson, Emmett Naar, Joe Rahon, Dane Pineau and Evan Fitzner. Those veterans led the Gaels to a 28-4 record, a No. 19 national ranking and a No. 7 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.
A young BYU team is expected to return its starting five in 2017-18, barring any injuries or departures.
In the video above, the Gaels talk about how team chemistry was built this season, especially with the team staying healthy, and how a similar scenario could benefit BYU next season.
