PROVO — City officials invite the public to attend a ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the new Provo Power Building at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, 251 W. 800 North.

Provo Power operates and maintains more than 36,000 meters, 380 miles of distribution lines, 48 miles of transmission lines and 18 substation transformers. The new state-of-the-art facility is LEED GOLD certified and includes a large array of solar panels that signifies the city’s commitment to being energy conscious.

The free celebration will include bucket truck rides, electrical demonstration booths, giveaways, tours of the building, and hot dogs and drinks.
