As with its rival to the north, it's been rather quiet on the commitment front for the BYU football program over the last few months.
On Monday night, however, the Cougars gained a pledge for their 2017 class in wide receiver/safety Keenan Ellis of Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, California.
Ellis announced his commitment via Twitter.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 172 pounds, Ellis received a scholarship offer from BYU in late June, his first offer.
With Ellis' commitment, the Cougars now have 12 players pledged for the 2017 class.
Ellis was not immediately available for additional comment.
