Dixie State's men's golf team is tied for eighth place after the first two rounds of play at 2016 Cal State Monterey Bay Otter Fall Invitational on Monday at the Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, California.

The Trailblazers (598, +22) opened with a first-round 13-over 301 to stand in ninth place, then posted a second-round 9-over 297 to move up one spot on the leaderboard and into a tie with Colorado-Colorado Springs (298-300-598, +22) heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Nova Southeastern (285-290) is the clubhouse leader after the first 36 holes at minus-1 575, three shots clear of second-place Lynn University (288-290-578, +2) and seven shots ahead of third-place CSUMB (294-288-582, +6).

Sophomore Nicklaus Britt carded DSU’s low round of the day with an opening 2-under 70, followed by an even par 72 on his second loop, to finish the day in seventh place at minus-2 142. Freshman Jayce Frampton (76-74) and sophomore John Reid (76-74) shot matching rounds to stand tied for 36th place at +6 150, followed by freshman Alec Johnson (79-77) in a tie for 66th at +12 156 and freshman Carson Walker (82-82) who is tied for 83rd at +20 164.

Dixie State looks to climb up the leaderboard in Tuesday’s final round, which begins at 8:15 a.m. PT.
