The Utah Valley University men's golf team sits in 10th place in the 14-team field at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate after shooting a two-round score of 22-over-par 590 (297-293) on Monday at University Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Utah Valley holds a three-shot lead over WAC foe UT Rio Grande Valley, which sits in 11th place at 25-over-par 593 (296-297). The Wolverines sit just four shots behind Oral Roberts for the ninth spot.

"For whatever reason we seem to struggle in calm conditions and play better as conditions decline," Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran said. "The wind picked up in the afternoon round and the guys fought hard and played well. Once again, we dug a big hole in the first round. We'll need to continue to dig ourselves out tomorrow."

Dalton Jackson led the Wolverines with a two-round score of 5-over-par 147 (72-75). Jackson is tied for 31st on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 1-over-par 72 in round one, followed by a 4-over-par 75 in round two. The junior recorded five birdies in his opening round.

Blair Bursey is tied for 35th after recording a two-round score of 6-over-par 148. The junior shot a 1-over-par 72 in round one before carding a 5-over-par 76 in round two. Bursey registered five birdies in round one and two more in round two.

JT Timmons and Ariel Elftman-Hanson are tied for 41st after shooting 7-over-par 149. Timmons shot a 4-over-par 75 in his opening round before recording a 3-over-par 74 in round two. Elftman-Hanson shot 7-over-par 78 in round one and a team-best even par 71 in round two. Payton Stott is tied for 64th after carding an 11-over-par 153 (80-73).

Utah Valley concludes Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate play with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live results will be available at Golfstat.
