A new era for The Jimmer began last night as he debuted for the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks in a tournament game in Singapore vs. the Singapore Slingers.
Jimmer Fredette was easily the best player on the floor in this offense-only contest. He controlled the ball from opening tipoff and drained his first five shots (and eight of his first nine). Fredette snagged six rebounds to go with his three assists, two steals and just one turnover. He finished the game with 33 points and rarely missed, hitting on 13-of-17 shooting (.765), with 5 of 7 from downtown (.714).
Fredette spent five years bouncing around the NBA, spending time with Sacramento, Chicago, New Orleans, San Antonio and New York. He averaged 15.2 points and 3.2 assists for the Denver Nuggets this past summer in the NBA’s summer league but failed to secure a spot on the Nuggets' roster, prompting him to take his game overseas. The former BYU guard was the NCAA National Player of the Year and 10th pick in the NBA draft in 2011.
