Last week, fans were reminded that East might be the best team in the state and most region titles will come down to the wire. Meanwhile, there are just seven undefeated teams left in the state: Layton, Bingham, East, Alta, Springville, South Summit and Enterprise.
Here are the six games Utah high school football fans should keep their eyes on this weekend.
1. Lehi (4-1, 2-0) at American Fork (4-1, 1-0)
The Pioneers started out region play strong with two wins. Lehi's lone loss came to undefeated Springville. The Pioneers need to resort back to their high-scoring ways after scoring only 28 last week. The Pioneers have averaged 38.4 points per game and need that to defeat the Cavemen. American Fork is ready to take control of the region rivalry and will need to prove it with its strong defense. The Cavemen have given up only 16.8 points per game in their games against Utah high schools.
2. Kearns (4-1, 1-0) at Olympus (4-1, 1-0)
In a special Thursday night showdown, the Cougars and Titans meet in a battle of two of the top teams in Region 6. Kearns brings in a high-powered offense, averaging 44.3 points per game in its wins. The Titans have dominated in their wins with strong defense, giving up only nine points per game. Like the Lehi-American Fork game, this game will feature a great offense against a great defense.
3. Syracuse (4-1, 2-0) at Davis (4-1, 1-1)
The Titans have played some incredible defense with the exception of the 67 points East put up in Week 1. Since then, the Titans have only allowed 8.5 points per game. It's been an odd season so far for the Darts, who came into the season with what looked like solid offense and defense, but they haven't been as dominant as expected. It'll be a tough task against the stout Titan defense.
4. Salem Hills (4-1, 2-0) at Wasatch (4-1, 1-0)
The Skyhawks have had a great start to the season, thanks to some close wins. Salem Hills still has a lot to work on and will need to prove that it can compete in Region 8 against a tough Wasatch team. The Wasps, like the Skyhawks, have started the season really well but need a signature win. This is a must-win for both teams in trying to stay in contention with Springville.
5. Emery (3-2, 1-0) at Morgan (3-2, 1-0)
This game could very well determine the outcome of the 3A North region. The Spartans and Trojans are the only teams in the region with winning records. The Spartans have played some great defense, allowing just 12.8 points per game. Morgan, however, will look to score often. Since being shut out by Bear River in Week 1, the Trojans have averaged 32.8 points per game.
6. Enterprise (5-0, 1-0) at San Juan (4-1, 1-0)
The Wolves, being one of the undefeated teams left in the state, are trying to prove they belong in the conversation with Beaver for tops in the 2A South Region. Enterprise brings in a defense allowing just 7.6 points per game. The Broncos are coming off a huge win over Beaver last week and look to carry that momentum on to Enterprise. The Broncos are averaging 28.4 points per game, and they just held the Beavers to 10 points.
