Zoe Chou, 7, waits to perform at the 39th Utah Asian Festival at South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy on Saturday. The festival began in 1977 when hundreds of Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian and Hmong refugees began resettling in Utah. Today some 500 volunteers contribute to the event every year.
