LEHI — Growers of giant pumpkins from throughout Utah displayed their pumpkin prowess at the 11th Annual Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers Weigh Off.

Brent Evans' 1,455-pound pumpkin brought the title of Pumpkin King from the annual Utah Giant Pumpkin Grower event at Thanksgiving Point on Saturday. Matt McKonkie of Mountain Green set the state record last year with a 1,817 monster squash.

The giant pumpkins meet varied fates after the weigh-off. Lindsay Bench, a Utah Giant Pumpkin Grower board member, said some pumpkins will get hollowed out and used in a pumpkin regatta, others will be used in a destructive pumpkin drop and some get sold.
