FRUIT HEIGHTS — Additional human remains were found in Fruit Heights Friday in the same area where a skull was found the day before.

Davis County sheriff's officials said they could not comment on what kind of remains were found, but noted they were spread out, and search and rescue crews were "on their hands and knees" going through the brush marking possible evidence.

Items of clothing were also found Friday. Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. DeeAnne Servey said it was too early to tell whether the clothing items could be linked to the human remains. She declined to say what kind of clothing was found.

Thursday night, a person walking along the frontage road near U.S. 89 came across a human skull. Because of the late hour, and because it was obvious there was no immediate threat, Servey said deputies to wait until daylight to conduct a thorough search of the area for more evidence.

"Any evidence on scene that would help us identify this individual," she said.

Deputies stood watch over the area overnight to prevent anyone from tampering with it, she said.

The skull had "definitely has been there for awhile," Servey noted. But she could not say Friday whether that meant it had been there 10 years or 100 years.

"We are just so early into this investigation," she said. "Getting the exact time this skull was there originally will be very difficult because of how much damage the sun and elements have caused on it."

Servey said dental records will be checked and anthropologists will be consulted to help identify the age of the skull.

For the longest time, a discovery like this would elicit comments about it perhaps being Jimmy Hoffa. Now, few people would know who I'm talking about. But there's always Wikipedia...

Jimmy Hoffa was never in Utah, The cost of getting here would have been excessive since it takes a pretty big concrete block for a man his size.
