I felt good out there and also knew I had good teammates who would play well. —Rhett Rasmussen
Led by Rhett Rasmussen's 67, the Corner Canyon boys golf team won this week's Region 7 tournament held at Glendale Golf Course. With a strong showing to take second place, the Timpanogos Timberwolves have taken over the top spot in the region standings.
"I really hit the ball well today, which always helps," Rasmussen said following his round. "I felt good out there and also knew I had good teammates who would play well."
Golf is all about great moments and Rasmussen had one during the round, sinkinga 25 foot put for eagle on the final hole.
There were other strong individual performances as well coming from Timpanogos's Aaron Yates with a 68, Brock Stanger of Orem and Blake Tomlinson of Skyline who both carded 70s, and Tyler Holmes of Timpanogos with a 71.
Although it was blue skies and sunny, the wind was a factor for many of the golfers which is why the team factor in high school golf is so important.
Rasmussen had good support from teammates Dylan Bloechel who shot 74, Noah Winfree with a 75 and Josh Hellem, who finished with a 79.
"The team played really well which is important because high school golf is not a one man sport," Rasmussen said of his teammates.
