Utah Valley University head coach Dick Hunsaker released the 2014-15 men's basketball schedule, which includes a date with Pac-12 champion and Elite Eight participant Arizona in Tucson on Dec. 9. The Wolverines, the reigning Western Athletic Conference champions, open the 2014 season at home against South Dakota.
The Wolverines also travel to Arkansas of the SEC for the second time in the last four seasons, visiting Fayetteville on Jan. 3. Like UVU, the Razorbacks also fell victim to Cal in the postseason NIT. Also on the schedule are three games against in-state schools: on the road against Southern Utah on Nov. 22 and Weber State on Dec. 20, and at home against Utah State on Dec. 13.
"Those games always create interest for our student body and community and the players always enjoy in-state competition," UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker said. "Arizona's as fine a team as there is in the country and we know the WAC will be extremely challenging as we prepare to defend our conference championship."
The slate includes eight games against six different Big Sky Conference opponents, including the contest at regular season and tournament champion Weber State in Ogden. Games against Big Sky programs also include contests on the road at Eastern Washington, SUU and Montana State and home-and-home contests with Idaho State and Sacramento State.
Utah Valley plays nine road contests and six at home in the UCCU Center in non-conference action. The Wolverines, who were 13-3 in their first season in the WAC, begin the 14-game WAC schedule at home against Seattle U on Jan. 10. The regular season wraps up March 7 with a home game against Bakersfield, while the 2015 WAC Tournament begins March 12 at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
