Utahns in baseball: Ex-BYU slugger Matt Carson comes up big in return off disabled list
Marcus Littlewood (Pine View H.S.), Clinton (Seattle Mariners): Zero hits in 17 at-bats during the week. Littlewood’s batting average slipped to .240 on the year after the week, and the St. George native has just five hits in his last 41 at-bats.
He also has five home runs, 12 doubles and 31 RBIs this season.
Dominique Taylor (Northridge H.S.), Lexington (Kansas City Royals): Placed on the 7-day disabled list. Taylor, who last played on June 24, is batting .305 this season, with five home runs, four triples, 14 doubles, 30 RBIs and 38 runs scored in 61 games this season.
Tyler Wagner (Utah), Brevard County (Milwaukee Brewers): Allowed three hits and three walks while striking out seven in seven shutout innings, improving to 7-4 on the year with a 3-0 win over Daytona on Tuesday.
Wagner has a 1.81 ERA, currently the second lowest ERA in the Florida State League, and 68 strikeouts in 89 2/3 innings.
Keenyn Walker (Judge Memorial H.S.), Winston-Salem (Chicago White Sox): Two hits, one RBI and one run scored in 23 at-bats throughout the week. Walker is batting just .187 since joining Winston-Salem.
Eddy Alvarez (Salt Lake C.C.), Arizona White Sox (Chicago White Sox): Four hits in 12 at-bats over the week. Alverez, the Utah resident and 2014 Olympic speedskater, is batting .297 since joining the AZL White Sox.
Tanner Banks (Utah), Arizona White Sox (Chicago White Sox): Made two appearances over the week, allowing no runs in three innings. Banks pitched two shutout innings on Tuesday against the AZL Indians. He allowed just three hits, while striking out three.
Banks then picked up a save on Saturday, allowing just one walk while striking out one in one inning against the AZL Giants. Banks has a 1.80 ERA and one save in five innings of work this season.
Bubba Blau (Dixie State), Arizona Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers): 0-0, 1.80 ERA in two combined appearances during the week. Blau allowed one run on three hits and a walk in a three-inning start against the AZL Mariners on Monday. He then came in relief against the AZL Reds on Saturday and allowed just one hit and one walk in two innings.
The Roy native has a 0.96 ERA in 9-1/3 innings this season.
Nick Green (Utah), Idaho Falls (Kansas City Royals): Threw one shutout inning in one appearance during the week, striking out two. Green has appeared in four games, allowing just two hits in 3-2/3 innings. He also has one save.
Kavin Keyes (Alta H.S.), Arizona Mariners (Seattle Mariners): Assigned to Arizona Mariners of the Arizona Rookie League. Has not made minor league debut yet.
Trey Nielsen (Utah), State College (St. Louis Cardinals): Allowed just two hits in three innings, while picking up a win over Batavia in his lone appearance during the weekend. Nielsen is 3-0, with a 1.42 ERA in five appearances covering 12-2/3 innings in the New York-Penn short season League. He also has 14 strikeouts to just three walks.
Mitch Watrous (Utah), Arizona Padres (San Diego Padres): Remains on reserve list. Has not made minor league debut yet.
Adam Miller (BYU), Arizona [Rookie League] (Arizona Diamondbacks): Struck out all three batters faced in one inning of work against the Arizona Angels on Wednesday in his final rehab appearance in Arizona. Miller has been activated back to South Bend, where he last pitched on May 15. He was 3-0 on the year, with a 2.80 ERA before going down with an injury.
